About the Filmmakers

 

 

     Casey Hockett is an avid director and cinematographer from Indiana, who has been making movies since high school.  He studied broadcast journalism in college, but took a break from film creation/study to travel the world in his early 20s.  Casey started filmmaking again when he moved to Colorado, mainly because his wife, Elle Carpenter, needed help making unique videos for her music project.  

 

       Elle Carpenter was a stage actor and singer from a very young age, deeply involved with the arts & entertainment scene in central Vermont where she grew up.  After graduating with a degree in Musical Theatre from American University, and having been a stage actor for so long, she decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue film: a new adventure.  As an actor, she’s played small roles in big productions and bigger roles in indie projects.  As a singer-songwriter, she has released 6 full albums to date, and traveled nationally and internationally to perform.  Elle has become an avid video editor because her music project is mainly DIY.  

 

       Together, Casey and Elle spent a few solid years, coming up with creative promotional and narrative content for Elle’s music project, finally realizing that their biggest goal was film-creation.

 

       In 2019 Casey and Elle were hired to produce and direct a SAG ULB narrative feature film in Pueblo, CO (this film is still in post-production, aiming towards a 2022 release).  Because the original writer was no longer involved, together, they carefully revised the screenplay to a point where the story worked.  Elle was the main producer and lead actress on the film, while Casey was director and cinematographer.   

 

      They spent the pandemic writing original screenplays together, while Elle was continuing to produce music from home.  In January of 2021, with a predominantly local cast & crew, they shot their first actual movie in their hometown of Durango, CO.  They hope to continue bringing film projects to the local community, while branching out to other regions when the opportunity presents itself.

 

      Casey and Elle enjoy a quiet life and have a son together: Skyler Carpenter-Hockett.
